On December 7, 2017, the WTO (WTO) issued a circular on Vietnam's proposal to amend the national safety regulations on children's toys.

WTO Proposed in WTO Decree No. 17-6733 GVTTN / VNM / 114 QCVN 03: 2017 / BKHCN The Draft Toy Safety Regulations are intended to amend the toy safety regulation No. QCVN 03: 2009 / BKHCN.The proposed amendment, once adopted, will make the following major changes to Regulation QCVN 03: 2009-BKHC:

● physical and mechanical properties, combustion performance standards update;
● Textile fabrics and wood products formaldehyde content standards update;
● promulgate a whole new set of requirements for phthalates and electric toys;
● The toy label must contain certain specific information and comply with the relevant provisions of the new regulation 43/2017 / ND-CP on April 14, 2017.

According to the requirement of WTO notification document, the deadline for appraisal is February 5, 2018.
